April 11, 2010 – Arches National Park

Another day … another unbelievable day!

We left Green River early for the short, one hour trip to Moab, UT.  Our campground, tucked between the red rock and a view of the North and South Windows at Arches, which we’d soon see “up close and personal” …

was just seven miles from Arches National Park.

While still spectacular, the arches, windows and other rock formations (i.e., Balancing Rock) are spread out and often require up to a two mile hike from the parking areas.

We were, therefore, surprised to find that the sights were not greater in number and closer together.

Nevertheless, the time was well worth the trip.

Turret Arch:

North and South Windows:

Landscape Arch:

Delicate Arch:

Arches without names:

 Balancing Rock:

The ever intriguing Utah Juniper tree trunks:

Old buildings:

After which we went hunting for petroglyphs:

And even stumbled over some dinosaur tracks.
