We woke to an almost cloudless sky and were able to have a clear view of the major peaks of the Tetons.
Our return trip back over I-33 was far different than the treacherous drive we’d had the day before yesterday. We could now see the fields,
Old farm buildings,
and even a small plane circling and seemingly landing in the middle of a crop field.
Less than an hour after leaving, we had to stop in Idaho Falls for one of my periodic blood tests to see if my Synthroid (post-thyroid removal supplement) is the correct dosage. While navigating to the medical clinic for the test, we passed a dramatic sculpture.

Continuing on, the landscape varied from lush fields of hay and corn
and evidence volcanic eruptions dated to around 10,000 years ago at the end of the last Ice Age.
We were also amused by the painting on the rear of a tracker trailer which passed us.
Our campground for the evening was a located in a beautiful municipal park along the shores of a section of the Snake River. While the water level was low due to a delay in the release of waters at the nearby dam,
there was evidence of flooding in the not too distant past (note the white ring on the tree trunk),
while large groups of sea gulls (in Idaho of all places) circled high above
while magpies seemed oblivious to us.

Most impressive were the size of the hollyhocks
and the pallet of color provided by other flowers.
After dinner we were treated to a beautiful sunset
with an afterglow which painted the clouds in subtle pinks and oranges.
