Together with three other couples and the son of one of them, we drove the few miles south, over the causeway and bridge, to Marco Island late this morning. Leaving our cars at the Marco Visitor’s Center we climbed aboard our bikes for a ride through the heart of Marco, past some beautiful hotels
and one high rise condo after another.
We finally reached one of the few public access points to the South Marco Beach.
Interestingly, the brilliant white the sand is not the soft sand we’ve experienced at other beaches on this trip … rather, it is a mixture of sand and literally millions of broken shells …and not very comfortable when walking in bare feet.
Along the beach, there were the occasional fishermen,
some of whom actually reeled in a “big one”!
Meantime, in the skies overhead, there were others clearly more successful.
Heading back to our cars, we passed along the waterfront
where Nancy, Joyce Lila and Debbie
were picking out their next luxury yacht.
Our last stop was for an ice cream sundae at a local.
After dinner, another night of dancing to our good friends and resident DJs, Tom and Donna Steele.
