March 13, 2010 – Sweet Home Alabama

After nine days in Florida, we crossed into Alabama this morning.  It was a relatively short day on the road and we landed in a small but extremely nice and very friendly RV park in Fairhope, AL, on the east coast of Mobile Bay.  This quaint town has an unusual heritage and is the oldest and largest Single Tax Corporation entities of its kind.

Our site was very convenient …

and the other “residents”, many who’d been there for several months, were incredibly friendly and welcoming.  No sooner were we settled than we were invited to a 4:00PM BYOB cocktail hour … which we took them up on without thinking twice!

If it were not for our desire to spend a couple of days in New Orleans and needing to be in Houston on Thursday for a morning meeting I need to attend, we’d have stayed at this campground another day or two.
