Just after leaving Bradenton, we had two minor electrical failures. Ultimately, after an hour of trial and error, we discovered a 20 amp fuse had blown. Unfortunately, we had only 5, 10, 15, 25 and 30 amp fuses. But only minutes later we stumbled across a Wal-Mart Superstore and were back in business.
We arrived at a surprisingly beautiful Manatee Springs State park.
After hooking up to our electric and water (no cable TV or wireless Internet), we took a walk down the Spring after which the park is named. It’s a fascinating place. The spring is up to 25′ deep but the water is crystal clear!
There were a number of signs directing visitors as to the best spots to enter the water to take a swim. However, after spotting …
Debbie, having obviously lost her adventuresome spirit, decided taking a dip was not on her agenda!
Close by, there was a sink hole in which divers will explore many subterranean caves under the park. Would you dive in here?
Aside from scores of squirrels …
our first glimpse of the wild life were the Mullets which suddenly leap out of the spring’s water for reasons not fully understood (best shot I could get)
and large flocks of black vultures.
However, the best was to come the following morning.
