March 4, 2010 – We Can’t Seem to Escape the Cold Weather

We awoke to more unseasonably cool temperatures, but were hopeful that as we continued south it would get warmer.  While the skies were again crystal clear, our campground in Silver Springs, FL (just east of Ocala) was a far from balmy at only 53o.

Even here in central Florida, they are again expecting below freezing temperatures tomorrow morning.  So much for Global Warming!

We’re sure few, if any, of our friends and family PA, NJ and New England have little sympathy for our plight, as their winter lingers on and many continue to watch new snow records set.  But, at least for us, there is good news as they are projecting temps in the 70s by next week.

While watching tonight’s news, we saw a live broadcast of the newest GOES-P weather satellite blasting off from Cape Canaveral.  Stepping outside only moments later, we were treated with actually watching the Delta IV rocket soar into the night sky from 60 miles away.
