We left Oklahoma City under a clear sky and which soon became overcast as we rode through rolling hills lined with more trees than we’d seen for several weeks.
Meanwhile, there was little of note during our three hour drive other than long stretches of roadwork,
the first tent caterpillars we’d seen for several years,
burn areas along the side of the highway,
and some weather monitoring devices.
About a half hour before reaching our night’s campground exit, the heavens opened up!
When we got to our campground, we sat tight just outside the office door for nearly 20 minutes to let the deluge let up … but still got soaked navigating the wind, rain and puddles when I finally decided to check in and then get our motorhome hooked up.
Can’t complain, however, only the second real rain we’d had while on the road during this trip!
