August 8, 2014 – Short Drive to Newberry, MI

Today would have been a pretty normal day were it not for a couple of issues with our motor home, one apparently electrical and the other possible hydraulic.

It seems our steps (into our coach) are going OUT while driving … when accelerating at 30 MPH or less. On reading our Owner’s Manual, it talks a great deal about what to do if the steps do not extend … but nothing is mentioned about them extending when the “override” (which kicks in when the vehicle is being driven) is operating. We bungeed the steps in for today’s 63 mile trip after which Dave and Bob helped me track down what might be the problem … a loose ground wire. Time will tell when we get underway on Sunday.

The second issue has an erratic one; our left rear leveling jack is raising up after the coach has been leveled. The only thing we can think of is that the hydraulic fluid which operates the jacks might be low. Again, when we get ready to hit the road on Sunday and retract the jacks I’ll have to check the fluid reservoir.

Oh yes, there is the television in our main salon which won’t seem to program … although the bedroom set is working fine!

Our drive was relaxing and (thankfully) uneventful. Debbie did, however manage to find a few barns to shoot,

one of many large logging trucks rolling down the road

and a vehicle which reminded us of our first car after we were married.

After getting settled in a very wooded site,

we looked up to discover some not-so-nice “neighbors”.
